Unicyclists at Holgate starting their 18 mile trip at Barnegat Light.

LBI Unithon 2002 Benefits ALO

The fourth LBI Unithon fund-raising event was a terrific success. Twenty unicyclists road 18 miles from Holgate to Barnegat Light. All proceeds from the unithon were donated to the Alliance for a Living Ocean.

Bridget Sprouls of Sweetwater started the event three years ago. Her Mom gave a unicycle to her Dad as a joke for Christmas, but Bridget was the one in the family to become the unicyclist. Bridget, looking for a challenge, decided to ride the length of LBI. A friend convinced her to ride for a charity. The rest, as they say, is history.

The President of ALO, Larrell Brown, said that the money raised by the Unithon will go towards ALO's operating expenses and programs.

ALO thanks everyone involved in the successful day!
