Get Trashy (by keeping it clean)

Surf Stewards
ALO’s Surf Stewards program is designed to bring the surf community together to support the cause of clean beaches, oceans, and waves. Surfers spend more time physically in the ocean than almost any other group around. They are what is known in science as an "indicator species." If there's something dangerous in the water, they're usually the first to know it. In the past, ALO has reached out to the surf instructors on LBI, asking them to give a quick tutorial on how they can present a one minute environmental lesson in a one-hour surf lesson. This year, ALO is branching out and uniting the entire surf community. With the assistance of local surf shops and our friends at Jetty, we are asking all of the area’s surfers to sign our online Surf Stewards pledge: “As a surfer, I pledge to keep the beach and ocean pristine by cleaning up trash when I check the surf and leave the beach, reducing my use of disposable products, and educating myself and others on the importance of being environmentally friendly.”
