Every year during May, the Barnegat Bay Estuary Festival celebrates the rich heritage and natural beauty of Barnegat Bay and its environs. Under the tent are booths set up by local volunteer organizations who are all working to keep this vital estuary healthy and beautiful. Wonderful food booths, live music, and environmental programs for the children round out the day's activities.

ALO has a booth at the festival which includes the face painting of "blue crabs", as a way of educating people about the non-point pollution stressed in ALO's Crab Connection program. ALO volunteers also put on a puppet show.

A few of the groups represented are: the Ocean County Department of Tourism, the National Estuary Program, Citizen Action Committee - Barnegat Bay Estuary, and the Alliance for a Living Ocean.
