SAVE THE DATE! Earth-Day Cleanup, April 30, 2011

It’s hard to think spring with the way the winter has been, but pretty soon we will see green again. Also due to so many winter storms, there will likely be more garbage than usual to pick up.

Please join us for ALO’s 18th Annual Earth-Day cleanup. There will be lots of fun activities to go along with the cleanup, plus cool shirts from our partners at Jetty. It’s a great opportunity for individuals and groups to make a huge difference locally.

Groups can pre-sign up by calling or emailing the office at 609-494-7800 or [email protected]. More details to come.

ALO board member Lori Castle (not in photo) was walking the beach with friends and family in late Feb. and picked up any garbage along the way. When her brother grabbed what he thought was a small piece of net, everyone was surprised when it did not budge. It took both Mike and Sean (pictured) to dig out a giant net from the sand and drag it up to the walkway for disposal. The net was filled with hooks, sinkers, plastic and other debris.

Viridian
SAVE MONEY & ENERGY THIS WINTER

It doesn’t cost you a thing; in fact, it SAVES you money. It’s green power, so it saves the planet. Plus, ALO receives a donation for every person that signs up. Again, it does not cost you a thing.

How
As a resident of New Jersey, you have the right to select your own electric supply company – all while staying with your current utility company. ALO is asking you to switch your supplier to Viridian Energy – a company that already meets the 2020 Federal Renewable Energy Goal of 20% green energy in its content.

For every switch, ALO receives a donation and a residual check each month for every active customer. It’s that simple! You must use this link for ALO to get credit for your switch: www.viridian.com/alo4greenpower

Utility companies simply deliver energy, they don’t produce it. By default they purchase electricity at higher rates than you actually have to pay. This is listed as “basic generation service” (BGS) on your bill under “supply charges.”

The option to change power suppliers is always noted in your monthly bill, but most people overlook the choice or ignore it because they think it would be a red tape nightmare to change. Not true.

It takes a couple of minutes to change suppliers and there are no new contracts, fees, or cancellation charges. The only thing you will notice about the change is a lower bill. We suggest you choose the “20%” option.

Please sign up – save money, support ALO, save the planet!
